Eliminate EGR ? 90 camaro

I broke the EGR electrical connector and due to the cars age, I no longer have to pass the annual emmissions test. I'm thinking maybe I should just blank off the EGR connection on the exhaust manifold. Would the car run alright or do I need to put in a new chip? I already replaced the O2 sensor......
