To de-screen or not to de-screen a MAF

I'm sure there's been many threads on this whether to de-screen or not to de-screen a MAF, but would appreciate getting new comments on this.

Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't, it changes the airflow slightly and in effect changes the gps feedback.

^Agreed^ Don't do it.
I've tried it on several vehicles, but in most cases caused issues like Tuned mentioned with no gains. And those "issues" are not consistent, thus difficult or impossible to tune around.

Re: To de-screen or not to de-screen a MAF

It depends on why you want to de-screen it. If your engine needs more air then you need a bigger diameter MAF. It is unlikely that removing the screen will increase the air flow that much if your engine is starving. The restriction in air flow, if there is one, is more likely to be in the filter system in front of the MAF.
