Whats going on?
So I was driving my 89 Firebird 305 tbi with a 5 speed trans, and when I got on it I noticed my exhaust was getting loud then quiet repeatedly but I didn't feel the car surge. I got home and checked fluids and it needed motor oil bad. So could that have caused it to surge I guess? It snowed so i can't test my theory yet.

Did it get loud when your on the gas and quiet when you took your foot off the gas?
Is it throwing any codes? Have you checked your exhaust for a leak?
Low oil wouldn't cause it to surge. It would cause other more catastrauphic things to happen.
