1991 rs problems

Heyy I'm having a problem with a 91 rs I just bought. It's a 5.0 5speed car. It's not getting fuel and the gauges go crazy when I turn the ignition on. I've replaced the fuel pump, relay and checked the fuse. Could it possibly be the ECM??

Since about the only thing that the gauges and ECM have in common is the battery , NO , your Gauges going crazy have nothing to do with your ECM . When you say "it's not getting fuel" are we to think you can hear the pump running for the 2 second prime at key on , with no pressure at the rail ? Or , are you hearing no pump action at all ? Yes , the ECM does control the pump for the 2 second prime and could be at fault if the pump relay and all other pump circuits are functioning normally and it's NOT doing the 2 second prime . Have you checked all the ground wires for both the dashboard and the ECM ? Sometimes when people hack aftermarket radios into these things all kinds of wiring gremlins appear because of wires being cut by these inept installations .

And yea , the ECM and the dash also have the ignition switch in common , but it's not a normal failure mode of the ignition switch to make the gauges go crazy . This is almost always bad grounds or hack wiring shorting wires that really would rather not be shorted ....

Best of luck with it , and welcome to TGO

Sry I forgot to say that no I'm not hearing the pump at all. My next step is to take the pump back out and check the wiring in the tank. I just wanted opinions on the ECM thing before I fight with all the wiring. The stereo was hacked up so it's a good possibility it's that. I can also hear the injectors workin so I know it's not them. Thank you for ur response
