Check my build please
The base: 89 Firebird Formula 5.0 TBI (60 K original miles), T5, 3.08 limited slip rear, Hooker 2055 headers 3" exhaust all the way, BMI and Aston subframe connectors. Now what I'm going to do is:
059 casting 305 Vortec heads
LT1 cam from a 94 TA
Melling timing chain set
Holly Avenger stealth ram MPFI system
Anybody see anything I'm missing or any problems? Please no 350 swaps. Thanks,

Re: Check my build please
I would not bother with the 520 vortec heads. If they were good heads for performance we would use them on the 350s. If I could get the flow of my 906 castings or the 062 castings in a 58cc chamber I would have ran them instead. I would look for a set of aluminum L98 heads instead. Also if you can squeeze it in to your budget I would swap to a little lower gear like a 3.23 or 3.42 the difference between the 3.08 and the 3.23 gears is about 5% and the 3.42 gears is about 10% more torque to the rear wheels. That's about 15-20 FTLBs for the 3.23 and 30-40 FTLBs for the 3.42s over the 3.08s.

Re: Check my build please
Updated, they sold the 520 but are building me the 059 casting. This is just to hold me over, motor still good later on I'll look at 350 with T56 and change the gearing then. Im just not at that point yet. I'm just need advice if I missed anything I need or if it won't work.

Re: Check my build please
If you're planning on switching to a 350, why waste money on a 305 using heads you won't reuse?

350 swap is a couple of years down the road. This is my toy and I want to see what this will do.

I would not waits the time with new heads if you already have good heads. That stealth ram set up is around $3,000 that's as much as a 350 long block. If you still don't want to do a 350 swap due to the low miles on your 305 I would recommend getting a used TPI set up for a few hundred and doing a vortec supercharger or something similar as it will be around the same price as the holley set up. Maybe even just doing a factory TPI might be an idea if your only looking for a little power and are on a budget. You could also just modify the stock TBI set up being your only doing a LT1 cam in a 305.
