What is this part called?????

Directly under the charcoal canister on my 86 iroc there is a metal cylinder/canister about 6" by 6" with vacuum lines going to it, you have to look from the underside of the car to see it, in front of the front wheel on the drivers side. What is this part called and what exactly does it do?

My car was swapped to a pre emissions set up but the person that did it never removed all of the unused parts and I'm trying to clean up the engine bay. I removed the charcoal canister and cruise control so far but I have a lot of vacuum lines that lead to nowhere and an engine harness that is 90% not used.

Sounds like your Vacuum tank for the Cruise Control.

Yep that's what it is, I just googled it. I'll be removing that too along with a lot more stuff when I pull the engine to rebuild it. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't a necessary part of the vacuum system first.

It also holds vacuum for the HVAC system. If you're still running AC or a heater you'll need to retain the tank and the associated one-way check valve as well.

Vacuum reservoir also helps the blend doors in your HVAC system work faster. Prolly should keep it. It's not like it's cluttering up the engine bay.

Re: What is this part called?????

The previous idiot removed the AC and sawzalled the heater box so I really don't have a use for it. The only thing I have that needs vacuum is the brakes and distributor. I though about putting heat back in but it's not really worth the time and money for how little I would use it and they removed the fuse block that's supposed to be in the engine compartment too so chances are the wiring for it is missing/ruined anyway.
