87 Iroc No Start No Spark
Hey everyone. I'm having a no start condition on my 87 Iroc. It's a swapped 5.7 withy the factory TPI and ignition setup on it. I was driving the car the other night with no issues and parked in when I got home. The next morning I went to start it and it cranked but wouldn't turn over. When I key on I can hear the fuel pump prime. I checked for spark at the plugs. Nothing. I checked for spark at the distributor end of the coil wire. Nothing. I figured I would replace the coil anyway because it could have certainly used it but I still do not have spark with the new coil. I would appreciate any input. My next step will be to test for spark directly at the coil to make sure the coil wire isn't bad.(cuz that would be my luck) thanks again.

Coil is possible. The ignition control module is more likely. Good parts stores can test them for you. Better to test them first before you go throwing parts at it.

Unfortunately the only parts store near me is an autozone and they don't test them. I still don't have spark at the coil but it is recieving battery voltage with the key on at the plug. Could it be a pick up?

I'm surprised they don't test them. All the Autozones I've dealt with have been able to. It could be the pick up. The ignition module is still more likely. They do have a tendency of just failing randomly.
