Puff of smoke
I have a 305 HO 5.0 V8 which has a whitish/blue smoke coming from the exhaust at start up only after the car has been recently running. This does not happen on a cold start. The smoke does not continue after the initial puff at start up. I am thinking of doing the valve stem seals in hopes that's the issue. Does anyone have any suggestions or comments on what they think it could be? Thanks.

Start with those. That's the most likely. Could be worn guides too. Other possibles are rings and coolant leak, but highly unlikely the coolant leak. Good luck.

Re: Puff of smoke
Ya either valve stem seals. Or bad piston ring. Either way its going to be quite a bit of work. Not one of thoes easy fixes.
