Headlight Issue
Headlight Issue
I have a 1988 Pontiac Firebird... my headlights will go up but will not go down so it seems the motor is working.
Also trying to find out how to order replacement "*****" for the manual headlight dial inside the hood?
Any ideas?

Re: Headlight Issue
Take the cover off the side of the motor where the contacts are and make sure the copper isn't corroded. I have also had a couple of cases where one of the motor brushes had detached from the metal lead. As far as the *****, you will probable have to hit the junk yard or replace the entire assembly.

Re: Headlight Issue
see these threads. Your motors are fine. The bushings in the motor gear turned to dust.

Re: Headlight Issue
Hi. I'm having issue with my lights and not sure where the problem lies. I have one light that doesn't move at all when the switch is flipped. The other light will not go up but will come down. I have to unplug the motors in order to manually crank them up as there is some resistance. Neither motor makes noise when the switch is flipped, but what would allow the one light to go down automatically but not up? If i'm able to manually crank them up I assume it's not the gears? Any help appreciated!
