hello all, having issues with a 91' 350 z28. car has been sitting awhile and now wont start. I notice now I cant here the fuel pump prime. Checked fuel pump relay,fuse block by the battery. Doesn't help much but I can get to run with starter fluid. I did notice that the security light on the display does not go out,could there be an issue with the vats system?

 

I don't know too much about vats, got lucky by having a bird without it. Although I think if it has a security issue it doesn't start at all, and you said you're able to start it with starting fluid

Might be a failed fuel pump. Check the voltage on it with the key on. If voltage seems good I'd check fuel pressure, but usually the mechanical pumps are cheap and easy enough to simply replace..

Did you flush the tank of bad gas and contaminants? Filter may be blocked up too
