power steering problem
1985 iroc-z and it feels like i don't have power steering.
was low on fluid and I added some. no improvement
and the clear fluid added a day ago is very dark now.

Yeah, I'd say new pump, and do it before it screws your steering gear up. But honestly, gear and pump are pretty easy to change. Have done both of mine recently. In case you don't know, you have to take off the entire bracket that the pump and reservoir are connected to. At least that's the way it is on an L98--not sure you said what motor you have. There's one bolt that's sort of hidden in the upper middle part of the bracket. It's not hard to get to once you know where it is, but you can't see it. You have to put the wrench on by feeling for it! I thought I had all the bolts off, but it still wouldn't budge. Had to come back in and check my shop manual to see where it was. LOL
