Rarity of 1991-1992 Formulas
Sorry if this is the wrong board for this, but how rare are the 1991-1992 Formulas? I read the forums Tech Info and it said 5K something Formulas produced in '91 and about 1,000(ish ) made in '92. The car in question is Blue, silver ground effects and has T-Tops. Unfourtantly , thats all i know except the car is really rough, '91-'92 Front end, Turbo Fin wheels and Powerbulge hood, faded silver formula badging and has been sitting in the same spot in town since 2012. Should i try to save it in a couple of months when i have some $ on hand? All comments appreciated !

The history board would be a better place for this but yea the 91/92 formulas are uncommon. Not really rare as they did build a few thousand but they're not really seen everyday or anything. Pictures are worth a thousand words on this dilemma. Id say its worth restoring since its a late formula but the car could be a complete rot box and only a parts car.

I just let my 1991 formula L98 car go about 3 weeks ago for $3250. It was a nice car with minor damage (cracked windshield and bad body work done on driver fender). Great running car.
5,490 '91 formulas built.
1140 or so with the L98 350 engine (which mine had)

1992 Formula production was very low at 1,017. It was the performance model and everyone knew the higher performance 1993 LT1 was right around the corner.

Re: Rarity of 1991-1992 Formulas
Is it a 350? If it's an OE 350 with ttops, they only made about 200 of those in 92, I'm not sure how many in 91, probably not many. Mine is an original 92 with 350/ttop, and in all my nosing around, I've only come across 5-6 of them. I'm sure there are more than that out there, but probably nowhere near the original 200ish that were made. As far as I know there are NO 91-92 GTA ttop350's because of weight. If it has that package, somebody swapped it in, and it's not original. Formy's were a couple hundred pounds lighter, so the ttop/350 was available in 91-92. Also, an original Formula 91-92 ttop 350 was supposed to come with GTA lace wheels to save weight. If this car has the normal Formy wheels, it's probably a 305, or someone swapped the wheels. You couldn't get the ttop350 without crosslaces. But yeah, even if it's just a 305, it's worth saving. If it's a ttop350 and it's not eaten alive with rust, don't walk, RUN to the bank and get cash! If its a rust bucket, not so sure I'd go for it.

If it has ground FX, they were put on or it isn't a formula. Sounds like another hybrid.

Oh yeah, didn't notice that when I first read the OP. And a sigh of disappointment issues up from the crowd as they walk away crestfallen..... Another phony Formy.... One cause for hope is that they are a different color than the car. Could be someone added them....
