I am using my old crank in a new(er) block I got. I know stock journals are 2.45 main 2.10 rods.
My journals are
mains 2.435 - 2.440
Rods are 2.092-2.094
Can I use standard size on rods and .010 on mains ?
This engine will never be raced, only cruising around to local shows with my son.
Assuming your measurements are all accurate, your main journals right now are .010" - .015" undersized, and your rod journals are between .006"and .008" undersized.
That's pretty messed up.
I'd suggest getting your crank turned to some standardized size, and then buying bearings that fit whatever it ends up at.
I have spent the last couple days angry that this crank is holding up my by build again. I was out in shop when I noticed this (see pic) . If it was ground .010 there is no way I was getting some of those measurements.
Then the lightbulb came on ! The micrometer I used was that dandy piece of shat from HF. Grrr... A quick trip to friends house to borrow his more accurate Mic. Journals are now 2.089 and 2.439/2.440.
So engine guru's ,,, if I run .010 bearings will that get me back in the game ?
