Keep getting trouble code 33

My engine light came on and I noticed a big power loss. So I connected the pins with a paper clip and got trouble code 33 which is low vacuum at the maf sensor. Anyone know what causes this and how to fix it?

code 33-as i understand it, you can check the vacuum hoses from the sensor. Check the electrical connections at the ECM under the dash. ultimately just replace the sensor. i have no idea what causes it to go bad though

Check the vacuum hoses and all the connectors, and check your TPS settings!

The last thing I'd be doing is replacing the sensor. Try checking the wiring (fans sometimes eat the wires), check the pins on the connector and MAF, and try replacing the MAF relays.

I assume this is a TPI car, right?
