Engine knock

Hey guys, anyone can tell me whether I possibly need to replace my 1989 2.8 v6 engine if it just needs a timing belt? It's knocking and right now I have been looking into buying another used engine but if there is another possibility please let me know, thanks.

Re: Engine knock

Unfortunately it is impossible to diagnose an engine by the simple description "it's knocking", though that is usually a (very) bad indication.

Is there a particular area the sound is coming from? Do you have any video/sound clips?
