IAC OLD AND NEW OPINIONS
1992 pontiac firebird 5.0
So I had a issue where when I started the car I had to tap the gas a little and basically make it idle. Or when I turned sometimes it would completely stall. I read on here to change the fuel filter and so on. Before I wanted to check my air connections. Found two hoses off plugged them in and no start.... pulled the iac and noticed it looked like the spring was stuck open.... so popped the new one in and cleaned the port and started up perfect nice 800 idle and didn't run for too long because I need to address another issue before it runs on its own. But has anyone saw this before? And do you think that could of caused my issues?

Re: IAC OLD AND NEW OPINIONS
I see IAC motors go bad all the time on all kinds of vehicles that use 'fly by wire' accelerator. Carbon build-up, weak spring etc. Electronic pedal got rid of IAC... Anyway, on my IROC I'm pretty sure the IAC motor is original. My symptoms are lower than normal RPM and occasional stalling if I let it idle without helping the gas. If the engine is warm, it idles no problem.
Sounds like you might have a vacuum leak too? Which will make the engine stall problem worse in conjunction with a bad IAC.
