Cam for 305

I do have 305 flat tappered 1985 engine and two cams to choose on my table:
1. Summit K1106 http://www.summitracing.com/int/parts/sum-k1106
2. L82 Cam 1979 year

which one should i use, what valve springs to get (or use L82 ones?) for my stock heads (will do some porting), im already have LT1 intake.

Best regards

Re: Cam for 305

K1106 will be a kind of big cam for a stockish 305. The L82 would be better mannered IMO

Re: Cam for 305

Wow, do NOT use the K1106 in your 305. It will be a dog and slower than stock.

Way too much duration, and too wide of LSA.

K1103 is the max you would want to go with,
K1102 might even be better

I really do not even recommend the L82 cam. I think it's too big IMHO. Plus it's a very dated old tech profile. It's a 222 @ .050" duration, 114 LSA cam.

So out of your only 2 options, go with the '79 L82 cam

Or look at even a cheap elgin cam/lifter set with 204/214, or 214/224 @.050. They are only like $85, or one of those 2 summit kits for $104
