Finally ran a solid 11, with may car
I have wanted my daily driver very streetable Firebird to run 11's with ease for the last few years. Well it finally did it. I ran a 11.72 at 116 MPH and an 11.62 at 116 MPH. (I could not find the 11.62 slip so I have the 11.72 pictured). I have attached the run and a picture of my car when I was on Drag week this year.
The car would only run 12.0 with the 3.54 gears and the 6-speed with my race weight of 3700 LBS. It would bog out of the hole when the tires dead hooked with the alum flywheel. I switched to 4.10 gears and the bog disappeared and the car ran hard. I spun on these runs so I expect that I could get mid 11's with some practice on the launch.

Nice. My dad built a 406 and ran 11.30s in a 67 chevelle, drove it on the street too. It wasn't fuel injected though. Very nice timeslips man!

Good call on 4.10s with the 6-speed. I had a 94 Formula 6-speed with stock 3.42 gears and it had the same problem- bogged if you got it to hook good. Likewise, I put a set of 4.10s in it and the problem went away (plus you can actually USE 6th gear for something other than highway fuel economy).
Dead stock on street tires my Formula run 13.5 @ 105. On DRs with the 4.10s it would go a maddening string of 13.0s but I could never crack an 12.99 with it. Still, for a dead-stock LT1 car (not even a cold air kit) people were generally shocked it ran as well as it did. Even the (then new) LS1 cars that were usually in my rear view mirror if they were stock.
You still running the 7.625" 10 bolt? If so, prepare to upgrade. It won't put up with 1.6 60-foot shenanigans for long. Especially not if you get it to dead-hook.

Thanks for the reply. I have a Strange S60 rear end in the car. The stock 9-bolt worked pretty well until I started running mid 1.6's and then I blew two of them very quickly so I put the S60 in.

Dang, didn't realize the S60 is so damn heavy. Nice times either way!
