Timing

What are some of the issues that timing being off would cause I recently had to put a 2.8 back in my 89 camaro rs but when it was first fired back up I made a dumb mistake of not checking the plug wires 2 cylinders did not have a wire on now the car runs like crap there is no power shakes when in gear and you hit the gas and chugs horribly the engine ran strong when I took it out but now I'm at a stand still any help is greatly appreciated

Re: Timing

timing being off would cause lack of low-end power. slow to accelerate, thats basically it. do you even know where your timing is set at? stock they were set at 0 degrees. but you could bump it up to 6 degrees advance to give you a little more power. dont know if this really helps any.

Re: Timing

Leave the timing alone. Forgetting to hook up plug wires won't affect it.

What happened when you put in a new set of plugs and hooked em all back up? Tried a new cap & rotor (since the rotor is probably now arced through in the middle and the cap carbon-tracked)?

Re: Timing

If your concerned about the timing in general check it like this.

Start car and idle until the car is at operating temp. Disconnect the EST wire, adjust timing, reconnect EST wire. Shut off car .

Re: Timing

Don't mess with the timing.

Leaving plug wires off won't change it.

Messing with something unrelated won't fix the problem you actually have.

Leave the timing alone.
