Knock Sensor Relocation Help

Alright guys i am getting close to buttoning up my build and installing my 2210 LT's and working to relocate my knock sensor to the driver side. I have read a lot of posts on the installation and all was going better than i thought until i couldn't get the coolant plug out of the driver side of the block. I worked on it for two nights trying not to strip it and what do ya know i stripped it out.

I was reading about potential relocating the knock sensor to the oil pressure sensor location just above the oil filter housing. I know this is not the ideal location but is it feasible? It is about the closest i can get to the stock locations. Then i could run my oil pressure sensor off the top of the motor just beside the distributor.

Any help would be great, just dont want to mess with the stripped plug and potential F it up.

Don't do that. That area of the block is significantly more rigid then the skirt areas above the oil pan, and will kill the knock vibration amplitude to the extent that the sensor would be useless there.

Re: Knock Sensor Relocation Help

Anyone have a magical methods of getting a stripped allen head plug out of the block with the motor still in the car? I really hate drilling on it with the possibility of getting metal into the coolant port.

Is there any shorter style KS's that have been used on the passenger side to clear the headers? I can get it in but no way to get the connector on. Has anyone modified the connector and had luck with it working and not burning up?
