oil pan question

Before anyone says anything i have used the search engine countless time and read the ls swap post even more. I have an lq9 that i need a lower profile oil pan and ive read that you can use the fbody oil pan but which year? Or are they the same?

Now that thinking it over fir the thousand time it would be the 4th gen ls1 oil pan right?

Yes, 4th gen f-body LS pan, 1998-2002.

Holley also makes a pan that fits fine. Most don't consider it because it is typically more expensive than a used f-body pan.

Cheapest option is to modify the truck pan. Mine turned out fine. Actually, the cheapest option is to fab your own from mild steel, I did it, but for my 4WD S-10, haven't test-fitted it in my 'maro yet.

That assumes you have access to the proper equipment, like cutting and Al welding.

I did a brand new fbody oil pan, gasket, Windage tray, pickup and all bolts for less than $275. All brand new from stores like summit which price matched a GM performance parts site.

I also bought a new F-body complete oil pan. FYI - the new production parts use an LS3 oil filter, not LS1.

Not necessarily the most budget minded but hey.... it's done and it fits. When I think of having fun working on my car the last thing that comes to mind is making an oil pan.
