Has your heater hose ever fallen off the thermostat housing

hows it going, i had an interesting night last night cruzzing around in my camaro. i pulled into a variaty/video store to get something to drink. one of my friends came in too, and the other stayed in the car, so i left it running. we got what we wanted and i went to pull out into the street when 3 gallons of antifreeze/water shot out of my hood. i killed the moter instantaniously and we pushed it back up the angled parkinglot. i opened up the hood to what i figured was a heater hose in peaices, or my thermostat housing shattered. to my supprise what i saw was the heaterhose had just slid off the housing. relived i bought 3 gallons of water, put the hose back on and went on my way.

That is very odd, hopefully it was not attached properly. There should be a little barb on the thermostat housing that keeps the hose on. You may want to check and see if your thermostat is opening, or just replace it all together. That definitely should not happen.

i think the probem was that i didnt tighten it enough when i replaced the thermostat like 5 days ago, i think i have it on good enough now, i was just parinoid when i put it back on because i was in my shop at school, and have broken a ton oh hose clamps by overtightining them.

Tighten the hose clamps until the hose just starts to squeeze out the slots on the clamp.
