Not starting again....mot .tj.

(Ignore the last couple letter in the title)Not the VATS system. Loud ticking sound I think it's the lifter arm hitting the valve cover. It had low oil pressure and I think that's why it's not starting. I started it up perfectly this morning got to my girlfriends house and shut it off walked to the door and back down to my car and tried to start it and that's when he problems started. It was running fine up until this point, it ran smoothly despite the low oil pressure. I guesss that's the problem? Any ideas on how to fix it quick to at least get it back home? What's it gonna cost me about to fix it? Thanks any help is appreciated!

Re: Not starting again....mot .tj.

Low oil pressure won't keep it from starting. THIMK: no matter what, the OP is ZERO at startup; so how would that work, anyway???

Any ideas on how to fix it quick to at least get it back home?
Engines require 3 things to run: air/fuel in reasonable proportions; spark at more or less the right point in the engine cycle; and enough compression to extract the heat energy from burning the fuel into mechanical work to turn the crank. All you gotta do, is figure out which one of The Big Three is missing. Odds are, it's not compression, so concentrate on the other 2. Shoot abuncha starting fluid into it, or pour about an ounce of fuel into it, or some such, then try to start it again. If it starts and then dies, it's a fuel problem; if it still doesn't start, it's a spark problem.

What's it gonna cost me about to fix it?
What difference does it make? Do you want it to run, or not? Will us throwing out wild-a$$ guesses out here change anything? It'll cost what it costs, no more and no less. That in turn will depend on what's wrong with it.

Loud ticking sound I think it's the lifter arm hitting the valve cover.
Why do you think that? Where is this sound coming from? Was it making it the last time it drove? Has this "low oil pressure" problem been going on for awhile? Staying about the same or getting worse? What does the gauge read? What happened when you replaced the sending unit?

Figured it out. The problem was my brand new battery somehow died (even though it started and ran fine to get it to my girlfriends house). And was somehow so dead that it died again after being jumped and twice after that.
The other fun part was when the alarm freaked out and blocked me from starting it while obnoxiously blaring the alarm.
