Trying to sell my 1984 Z28 but I'm having an issue with it. I have an Edelbrock 1406 performance carb put on the car instead of the q-jet (bought the car after it had been sitting for a few years, didn't want to rebuild q-jet). After driving the car for a few months I decided to rebuild the quadrajet, but to my disappointment, the previous owner had messed with all of the vacuum lines so the car ran terribly with it on. So I wound up putting on the edelbrock again, but now the car won't get above 65 mph. And when I punch the gas, it will go haul *** for a couple seconds, but then it feels like it lurches and kind of stalls. I can sit in neutral and red-line it but when I'm
In drive, I can't get the car above 4,000 rpm because, again, it starts to kind of "stall" and lurch. Any ideas? I know I have the carb hooked up properly, new plugs and wires, etc.
Any help is appreciated thank you!

What distributor are you using?

Unless this is a car originally delivered in Canada, the distributor used for the factory Q-jet won't work properly with an Edelbrock.

But, you may also have a fuel delivery issue. Has the fuel pump ever been replaced?

Re: HELP car loosing power and lurching
It's the original delco-remy distributor, but I just bought a non-computerized distributor off of an older model Camaro, replaced the cap and rotor and will have it installed soon.

I just put on a new fuel pump a few weeks ago and it didn't quite fix the problem. I also put in a new tank and sending unit a few months ago.
