Engine Dies after running for an hour? Very weird.

Hey guys,

I am having a very weird engine issue. Car fires up beautifully, runs strong as hell for about 45 minutes to an hour and then when idling, the engine just starts to bog down until it just dies. (Unless I keep it running with the gas pedal)

I go to fire it back up and it wont start unless I keep the carb half way open and then it misfires like crazy.

It almost seems like it has no gas (vacuum issue in the tank?) I tried taking off the gas cap to solve this theory and it seems to be a little better but it definitely still happens... I checked the carb and it definitely has tons of gas shooting in when I open the accelerator pumps.

Engine-

350 Chevy
Edelbrock Dual Plane Intake
AFR Heads
750 Holley Double Pumper
Edelbrock Mechanical Fuel Pump
Dougs Long Tube Headers

ANY IDEAS?!

Seems more like the distributor or probably the coil is on the way out. Heat will do this to a coil.

Very weird because it's a brand new MSD HEI billet distributor...anyway I could test it without getting a brand new one?

if you bought one of their MSD "street fire " distributors , it was made in china , i have seen a lot of these not be worth the box they came in
