Is it possible my rear is loose??...

Hey all, it seems when I drive my car now it has an extra bounciness to it. A bounciness I do not like, I love tight suspension, where I get hit hard from a bump, but atleast I don't bounce all over the place, like Jeeps. Well today I was drivin my car and I felt an extra bounciness, I kind of felt coming from behind, the rear of car. If I hit a bump, along with an "up-down hit", I get kind of a lateral or "left-right hit", kind of like a jiggle. Its really bothering me. I feel it a little in my seat also, a lateral movement. I also feel it after coming out of a turn, like as if the rear axle is loose and is trying to follow the car. It feels almost like I'm trailing a boat, where when I turn the boat has to follow, but it takes more time. I don't know, it just feels weird, its new, and I don't like it.

If this sounds like something that happened to you, or heard of something like it, please post, its really bothering me, I hope my rear gears or rear axle isnt messed up. Also by the way I still have my transmission mounts broken, my friggin brother (works for chevy) hasn't fixed it yet, d@mn procrastinator, if I knew how to do it, and had a lift, I would have fixed it already.

BTW, Merry Christmas... happy holidays

Oh man just go buy the mount and fix it, it is very very easy and you just need a jack and a ratchet to do it.

If it just started happening, as opposed to gradually, it sounds like something is broken back there. Have you looked? Can't think of what would cause lateral play in the rear.. .heh... maybe your tranny moving around has caused some kind of problem farther back.

I've had that feeling before when the tire pressure was low... My Dad said it felt like the back was loose right before a wheel fell off his car while he was going like 40MPH - check your lug nuts.
As for something being broken, crawl under there and have a look-see. There's only 3 suspension arms and 2 shocks. See if anything is dangling, or has a bright shiny spot where it broke.

Shocks might need replacing...fixed mine.

As for turning part, go slow so the posi disengages...that will help...and SFC's will help stiffen body roll on turns and such.

Also the rear suspension parts could be weak, or loose...and replacing with newer aftermarket is upgrade to suspension and traction too...

Fix the mount...even a regular shop can do it cheap.
It will cause other problems such as rear end suspension problems (what happend with mine) that can cause the looseness problems.

definatly your tranny mount. The torque arm runs from the back of the differential to the back of the transmission. If the tranny mount has seperated then this will cause the rear to feel loose. I just had the same problem with mine 3 weeks ago. It's recommended that you install an energy suspension mount, they come with a safty inter-lock to prevent the mount from seperating like the stock. A broken tranny mount can also lead to drivetrain damage, so the sooner you replace it the better.
