More Survivor Help

Well, my 17K 89 IROC convertible is challenging me now and maybe you guys can help. First off, the trunk pulldown motor doesn't seem to be working. I am unable to find the "Inline" fuse that is mentioned in another thread on this topic to make sure it is not blown, Can anyone direct me or have a pic of where it is at?

Second, My TEMP gauge is now buried straight up way past the 260 degree mark. The GM manual mentions something about a bad ground but I haven't touched any wires. Any help on this one too? If the gauge is bad, how much of a PITA is it to replace.

Thanks again guys, I owe you all

Re: More Survivor Help

The temperature gauge is exhibiting symptoms of the temperature sensor being shorted ot the wire to the sensor being grounded somewhere. Disconnect the wire from the sender to see if it responds differently.

Re: More Survivor Help

Thanks Vader, I took off the wire and much to my dismay the gauge did not move. It was working fine, Sounds like the gauge itself may have gone bad. That really sucks because it looks like a MF to replace it.

I just ordered a recond hatch motor from Hawks - That is the most useless powered device on the car. WTH was Chevy thinking when that thing was designed. I really see no reason for it other than to sell replacement motors

Re: More Survivor Help

If removing the wire from the sender did not change the gauge indication, that wire may be pinched/grounded somewhere else. Does the gauge move to ZERO when the ignition is off? If so, pull the cluster and test the resistance of the sender wire (green?) to ground.

That sounds like an instrument problem.
