L98/T5 with LT1 Starter Swap
My son has a 1991 Z28, looks to be original 5.7/auto which we swapped the auto for a WC T5 trans.
The car has been running ok but at times upon start, it would take many tries before it started. It would click every time at the starter but would not turn the motor over. Initially, I thought it was the starter. I bought two separate ones for that car, checked the battery output at the starter, it all tested good. I did a lot of research here and saw LT1 starters were used successfully. I installed one and it worked. It starts every time.
The problem is in the length of the wires to the starter. The battery cable has enough length, however, the ignition wire and the other three wires connected to the battery side of the starter are stretched out as far as they can go in order to connect. That can't be good in the long run.
I haven't seen any write-ups as to the best way to make these connections longer. I didn't want to cut the stock wires to do this but if I have to I will. Are there any connectors/connections I can make without cutting the original wires?

Not really since they use ring terminals.
You can extend them at the bottom, or you can go all the way to the Firewall connector and extend them there. You'll have to fish the extended wires through the loom then though.

should be enough slack in the wires to reach, may have to work it through. I assume your's has the metal conduit piece they go through rear of the block, behind the starter?

Thank you guys for your response. Yes, to rear of the block behind the starter but I don't see a metal conduit piece. I'll look to see if I cant work them a little better. thanks again.
