Finding out what heads i have on my 87 Trans Am.

Before tearing apart the top end of my engine, I was wondering if there was a way to figure out what heads i have on my car. I have a 1987 Trans Am, 5.0l carbed car. The motor is all original. Also, i would like to know if my car would have vortec heads or not. This is my post on the forum, and any help would be great.

That would be, not... assuming "all original". Vortec heads appeared in 96. No "features from the future" unfortunately.

Most likely they are 081 casting. IFF they are "all original".

Pull a valve cover and get a casting #. It's the only way to know. Everything else is just a guess.
