Oil Pan
Rebuilding my engine and at some point in its like someone dented/punctured then welded the oil pan. Figured i might as well replace it while the engine is out. Looking on summit alot of the options got poor reviews, just looking for a standard replacement.
Any recommended brands/products?

Re: Oil Pan
For just a stock replacement try Rock Auto. They have several that look good like the Pioneer and even the Dorman (only $37).
Unless u really know u need better just replace with a stock pan. Performance oil pans will just cost you more not provide any benefit for a daily driver.

Re: Oil Pan
That's prolly the most common-sensical thing to do; just yerbasic stock replacement.
Check Summit, Amazon, etc. as well for a good quality part at a good price. Don't go with "the cheeeeeeepest you can find". Pioneer and Dorman are 2 reliable names to consider; there's plenty more.

Re: Oil Pan
I see alot of 4 quart pans listed under rock auto for my car. Is there any disadvantage to going with a 4 quart pan?

Re: Oil Pan
So i assume the reason the engine takes 5 quarts of oil is because the pan its self holds 4 quarts and the extra quart is distributed through the oil passages and other areas of the engine?

Re: Oil Pan
Best thing I have done is to look on Ebay for take off pans from boats. I just picked up one from FL for 25 shipped.

Re: Oil Pan
I bought a stock looking oil pan that was 5 quart capacity with a small windage tray. It worked well but I upgraded to a better pan for my 383. I still have that 5 quart oil pan with a rubber seal (both in excellent condition) for a one piece rear main engine. PM me if interested, I've been meaning to sell it.
Pretty sure this is the one I use now : https://www.summitracing.com/parts/sum-g3603/overview/
