Distributor Gear
I am in the process of converting a L-31 to a carb. I will be using a MSD 8360 distributor. I believe I need a melonized gear for this motor. Not sure my MSD has that gear. Can I use gear from my original dizzy or is GM the best source for this gear? Any way to tell if my MSD has melonzied gear?
Thanks
Thanks

Re: Distributor Gear
Unless somebody messed with it, that MSD distributor should have a standard iron gear, which is perfectly compatible with either the stock GM L31 cam or any cast (non-billet core) cam.
Your original dizzy gear, if it's not worn, would be fine too.

Re: Distributor Gear
That MSD distributor should come with MSD PART# 8531 pre installed which is a Melonite QPQ coated gear
