CCCarb with vacuum advance dizzy

Ok, here is the scenario. I was blowing through electronic advance distributors like it was cool, so after the 3rd one blew, the mechanic suggested I put on a vac advance dizzy. He did this and plugged the vac advance line and told me everything was fine, however, it's not...it's running rough and acts like it's going to die. I have read that plugging the vac advance retards it quite a bit...I have also read that in order for it to run better, I should splice two wires from the esc to fool it into a good signal...I'm by no means car saavy and this mechanic was the only one in 60 miles that would even look at it....almost to the end of my rope here, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: CCCarb with vacuum advance dizzy

the ecm relies on a tach signal from the electronic distributor. without it the ecm will not be able to go into closed loop and adjust the fuel/air mixture
