Is it mandatory to adjust it after installing a new one? When I turn my car on it idles between 1000-1500 for a few seconds, then it drops in between 500-1000 in park. In drive it idles a little over 500. Not sure if this normal idling, but thought if it isn't I thought it could have something to do with not adjusting the IAC. 86 305 TPI Automatic transmission.

What I do after installing the IAC, I take it for a drive and keep a constant speed, say 45-50 for a few to let it set. FWIW

I know about that article I'm just wondering if I need to adjust it. I had it installed a few weeks ago. I heard that it could also affect the car during cold starts and that's also an issue I'm having.Originally Posted by Bob88GTA
