WILL NOT GO OVER 30MPH WITH PEDLE TO METAL

Hey I have an 89 Camaro v6 that can barely run I put my foot on the gas but it can only reach speeds of 20 to 30mph with my foot all the way down, and also when the car is in idol my headers glow. I have no idea what's wrong with it. Can it be timing? Please help
