Hey guys, my 87 Iroc-z is making a loud screeching/whistling noise is coming from the front right side of the car somewhere in the engine bay. It starts making noise once the car reachs around 2500-3000 RPM and varies in loudness from there. The car drives fine until the RPMs reach that point and then the engine just bogs down and can barely accelerate.

The car is still bone stock as far as I know except for a Borla cat-back exhaust that I added.

I'm not quite as good with cars as I am with computers so any ideas would be appreciated. From what I read it sounds like it could be a vacuum leak. Thanks!

Still sounds like a bearing, do your other gauges do anything weird voltage?
What is the history of the car, any recent changes, tune up?

 

His sig says auto. Smog pump still hooked up? Maybe a hose is cracked

Hey guys, sorry it took so long to reply back. I decided to drive it over to my mechanic since there was an audible noise that it wasnt making when he last tried to pin point the cause of the problem. He lifted the car up so he could walk under it while i
Reved the engine so make it whistle. Turns out the noise was coming from the catalytic converter which was supposed to be an aftermarket high flowing cat. There were literally pieces of the inside missing.

He just cut out the cat and welded a staight pjpe and the camaro came to life once again!
