Re: 1/4 mile times

12.8 for a street car is a good time - not many 30 year old 12 second street cars out there!

Realize that's probably 2.5 to 3.0 seconds faster than it was stock.

Re: 1/4 mile times

That's pretty good

That's a lot of cam. What is your 60' time?
What torque converter are you running? There could be opportunity for improvement there.
1-5/8" primaries aren't holding you back at this power level. However, with that much cam duration, longtubes combined with a good free-flowing exhaust could help. What's the rest of your exhaust consist of?

Re: 1/4 mile times

Yeah not to bad a time there. 116 oct certainly isnt needed so save the money
93 oct might pick up some actually

Keep playing with the tune there should be some more in that setup

Re: 1/4 mile times

What does the exhaust look like after the headers? Are you running a custom Y pipe? I know a lot of the pre fab Y pipes have **** mergers and really restrict flow.

Your 3000 stall is probably just fine

What tuning have you done with the carb maybe invest in an A/F gauge and get it dialed in

Re: 1/4 mile times

I saw the TC stall in his profile.
My question regarded what type TC, ie. 12" or 9.5/10"

Re: 1/4 mile times

Zz4 is relatively low compression. 230 deg cam is gonna make it soft under 4000 rpm. For best 60 ft's i would run closer to a 3600-4000 rpm stall speed in a good quality 9.5" converter

I've done a very similar combo before. Was a 12.2 at 112 mph deal with valve float in good air down south. Probably would have gone high 11's at 115 with correct valve springs

Re: 1/4 mile times

Yes not bad time just thought with the afr heads it had more in it.
The tq. Convert or is 9" but it is a cheap convertor from monster transmission.
I don't have any valve float and I rev it to 6800.
I notice revving that high that it didn't go any faster.
I am going to mess with jetting and remove some weight from the car.
I am getting a 1.80 60 ft. With no spin with the dragradials.
I may just throw 100 shot on it not sure if the motor with like it.
The exhaust is junk I think. Shorty headman with y pipe exit out side of car in front of rear wheel. Sounds good

Re: 1/4 mile times

1.80 60' tells the story.
If you want to optimize your NA performance, then as was said above, you need more stall for that cam. and a higher quality TC will help matters too.
But, for the 100 shot, leave the present TC in there; it'll flash that TC way beyond 3000.

Ok. I'm going to try to optimize the combo before I do the 100 shot. I'm going to track this weekend. I took little weight off car and I am going to jet carb. Should I start jetting up or down?

Get something like this

https://www.amazon.com/AEM-30-4110-U.../dp/B00N3VGPYS

Install and it will tell you up or down. Or if you have a holley carb then follow the tuning sticky in the carb section.

Re: 1/4 mile times

Have you checked plugs at all after a pull? Ideally a wideband will help tell rich/lean and give you a direction to go. What timing?
