Hydraulic Flat Tappet Cam Break-in

You can call me a Nervous Nelly, but I used 1 bottle of Lucas Oil and 2 Rislone "break-in oil additives" with 4 quarts of Rotella T 15W-40 followed by 30 minutes of varied 2500-4000 rpm immediately after start-up. So far so good on the Summit K1103 cam.

I will be cutting open a couple of oil filters in the near future

Good call on cutting the filters.

We use Amsoil Break-In oil. It's a straight SAE 30 non synthetic. It has over 2000 ppm of ZDDP. Seats things nicely.

Re: Hydraulic Flat Tappet Cam Break-in

You did a great job with all the work you did. No leaks too.
I would have had a big struggle as to whether to re-install
all that emissions crap.
I'm glad you did things to help that FT camshaft live.
Nice looking car.

Re: Hydraulic Flat Tappet Cam Break-in

Thanks for the compliments, but it was a collective effort and I will make certain that my friend is made aware of your thoughts.

Regardless of the negative press poured upon the 3rd generation F-body, the values are steadily increasing. They are damn stylish cars and we can always fix the horsepower issue!!! Lol.

If this wasn't a matching numbers original, all that emissions equipment would be history.
