is it safe to unplug the fuel pump wires to relieve pressure in the fuel lines?
i want to do some work on the fuel system.
i have an inline external fuel pump that i can easily unplug ... can i just unplug it to relieve pressure in the fuel lines?
if so should i unplug it while the engine is running or before (will it start the motor if i unplug it before)?
going to work on the injectors, pressure regulator and swap a fuel filter so i need to take out the pump... can i do this or is this a bad idea?

As long as the pump is off, you'll be fine. It's under pressure, but the volume of fuel you'll lose is pretty small. If you're unscrewing a fuel fitting, go slow, and as soon as you see the first drop, just wrap the whole connection (hand and all) in a towel. You'll lose more due to gravity than from what the pressure will push out. ....just remember though that gravity causes drips, where as the pressure can shoot fuel out, and possible hit something that can corrode, OR your eye, etc. etc.
