sensor mounted in head between 6&8 cylinder (Lg4)?
as the topic says, im wondering what sensor is located between the 6 and 8 cylinder in the passenger side head. i noticed that it had broken in two and i just sorta pieced it back together, and id like to replace it instead of mickey mouse it you know. what does it go to? thanks
It is a fan switch, it turns your fans on when your car gets to about 230 degrees, and off later. Mine is not plugged in because my car never gets that hot, I have it plugged into a manual fan switch instead.

the fan switch is more towards the front of the head, between the 2 and 4 if i remember right. this sensor is really big and made of a blue plastic, and has a black wire loom connected to it, while the fan switch is a single small wire that goes into a sensor. if anyone has any ideas it would be greatly appreciated

The one between #6 & #8 is the fan switch.
There's no hole in the head between #2 & #4, or anywhere else besides between #6 & #8. On the other side, the one in the same hole in the casting, between #1 & #3, is the temp gauge sending unit.
There's a larger sensor in the side of the block, in the center of the side right above the oil pan rail; that one is the knock sensor, and also the coolant drain plug. It was just the drain hole from 55 on, until they came up with knock sensors in the 80s.
