88 Camaro IROC - torque converter Question
I have 88 Camaro IROC. Had originally 305 TPI. It now has rebuilt 350 long block, addded edelbrock performer intake, edel 650 AVS carb, headers and still has original 700R4 trans. I will be having new rear end Detroit truetrak diff + 3.73 gears. Not sure what this car came with for torque converter, but I think it needs an upgrade. Engine manufacturer says engine I bought requires 2200- 2400 stall. Is that correct given all this info including new gears?

Re: 88 Camaro IROC - torque converter Question
Converter stall is based on camshaft grind. If you have a basically stock camshaft, a converter with a stall speed of 2200-2400 will work just fine.
If you don't know all the cam specifications, you can only guess at what stall speed will work best.
