stewart pump install problem?
stewart pump install problem?
ok.. well I was going to paint my new stage 1 stewart pump.. I thought I better compare to my original first... ok first thing I noticed.. mine had the studs on it for the pulley & fan to fit over and then you would just put the nuts on.. this one just has the threaded holes.. no problem I guess I could just go out an buy some stainless bolts for that.. just have to figure a way to get them on as when you hold the fan to the pulley there's not much room to get the bolts in there.. so that's problem #1.. problem number 2 is there 's some kind of threaded hole in the pump looks about 1/2 ".. is this a water passage or something.. mine didn't have that.. the other thing is the box is labeled properly with the part #13123 but the pump itself isn't stamped with that number.. it has EI-626 and XZ-G009...
HELP! ( this is why I hate going aftermarket) always some kind of problem... err

If I remember correctly my Stewart pump had an extra threaded pipe fitting. As a semi-universal pump they tried to make it fit as many applications as possible, and on some cars that other fitting is used for something. Bottom line is: on my car that hole wasn't used, so I just ran out and bought a brass pipe plug and stuck it in that extra hole along with a dab of sealant.

Like Dale, I used a brass pipe plug in that hole in mine. I happen to have the radiator that has the heater hose fitting which is functionally equivalent to the hole in the WP, it's easier to get a more reliable plug for the WP (brass) than for the radiator (rubber). It's ½" pipe thread.
Nearly all water pumps, including stock replacement ones, will come without those studs. You could pull the ones out of your old WP by using 2 nuts, or buy new studs; it's a questions of $2.50 for the studs, or a few minutes of time.
