1996 GMC K1500 Suburban 5.7L Vortec Starter issue

My geared drive starter stopped working properly a few weeks ago. The gear will not mesh with the flywheel.
It looks like the starter is not going far enough into the bellhousing. I have read that there are long nose and short nose starters but I have not been able to find the correct measurement of the bolt hole to end of block distance. I read that there were 2 different drill patterns (not just straight and diagonal) at different offsets from the block face.
Help!

Not sure what your question is? Are you trying to find a starter at a wrecking yard? If not, just go to your local auto parts store and tell them what starter you want.

I know for a fact that a starter for a vortec engine will not fit up to a WC T5 lol!
