Mystery connector

While working on the 1988 LB9 rebuild, I thought that this is a good time to buy replacement senders, sensors, and switches. I recalled that when i was prepping the engine to pull it, i ran across a lead for which the connector is mangled and i couldn't find its mate anywhere down under. It is a single black wire. It exits the "starter loom" with the detonation sensor and starter leads having the fusible links. I cannot find it the service manual--I may figure it out after installing the engine, but I want to buy these items beforehand. So what is it? (the knock sensor is on the right in the attached picture)

as always, thanks in advance.

Re: Mystery connector

It could be the temp sensor in between 6&8 cyl in the head.

Re: Mystery connector

i'll check the old one. i just thought that if it exited with the knock sensor et al, then it must have been something running low to the frame.
thanks

Re: Mystery connector

It might be nice to know the color of the wire.

Re: Mystery connector

I just went through this with my car. It's the fan switch wire. The switch is up on the head as stated before. Real close to the exhaust, plastic connector melted off just like mine.
