Won't crank when hot.

Won't crank when hot.
I have an 89 gta 350 with headers, the car has always had an issue where it dies out at stop lights sometimes when warm, but usually fires right up. Now with the hot weather, when it dies, the starter doesn't even make a sound. If I hold the key forward for a few seconds it will crank, or sometimes I need to wait like 20 minutes, then will crank right up. I saw some other threads about starters cranking slowly when hot, but mine always cranks normally when it does crank.
Think I need to replace the starter, or can I just wrap it or shield it, or is something else wrong?
thanks

Re: Won't crank when hot.
I had the same issue with my 92. The headers are so close to the stock starter that it would "heat soak" - especially in the hot Texas summers. I ended up buying a high torque mini starter from E-bay - think it was around $62. So far no more problems.

I'm thinking about buying this Summit starter, will this solve my issues, or is there something better that I can pick up locally?
