Does this sound like an IAC? Stall problem

88 iroc z manuel. Runs drives and shifts no problem but it seems like when Im out of gear and turning the car stalls and then Ill turn the key and it will start right up. Ill be pulling into a parking lot have the car in neutral with the clutch depressed and if Im turning the wheel the car dies. What could this be?

It might have a power steering pressure switch to bump the idle up when you turn. Something to check if it only happens when you turn.

There will be a switch somewhere on the P/S pressure line. If it isn't there, you don't have one.

How is your steering? How old is the pump?

Steering doesnt feel bad honestly. Not to tight and not too loose. Im not to sure how old the pump is. Im sure its never been replaced

If it drives nice, then it's likely just fine. I was wondering if there wasn't some binding, putting too much of an unexpected load on the engine, that IAC couldn't compensate for. Is your IAC original? If you have replaced it, what brand did you get? I see a LOT of problems with aftermarket sensors on another forum I hang out on. (dodge trucks....)

My bad IAC valve would stall it anytime I came coasting to a stop. Might be something to check. Guy sold me the Trans Am cheap four years ago because of this stalling issue. Bought one on eBay for 20 dollars. Runs and idles like new. No problems after four years
