89 iroc won't always start

Having trouble starting my manual transmission car. Have tried replacing battery, starter is good. Should also point out that there is a Viper alarm system. Seems that it starts sometimes when you jiggle the key in the ignition and pump the clutch. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Jiggling key- is your VATS system acting up? What exactly happens when you turn the key and the car "doesn't start"? Anything?

You probably have a cracked vats wire that runs into your ignition tumbler. When you turn the key do you get power to everything but the starter just doesn't crank?

Does the starter turn the engine over?

You will need to replace the ignition/ key tumbler in the steering column. There is 2 little white wires that connect to the tumbler that wear out over time and every now and then you can't start your car because the Vats enables
