1989 firebird formula 305 fuel injected. Just bought it and got it running then son put air cleaner on it and metal air cleaner found a bare wire on the new coil and it has yet to start. Replaced dist. control module and tapped up bare wires on coil and injectors. Need some help Please!

 

TBI or TPI? Recently tried to put and open air, air cleaner on my '88 TBI. It would crank but not start. Think cleaner was oversized and shorted coil. Put on OEM air cleaner or no air cleaner and started right up. Try starting it w/o air cleaner and see what it does.

 

Check your fuses. You had a short to ground that was probably permanent enough to blow something.

 

Sorry, it's a TBI. I checked all fuses and found none blown. I have tried to start with no air cleaner and it still won't start. Will be checking fuel flow at TBI unit.And replacing fuel filter too.
