Roller Rockers
Hello all,
I have a 1989 Firebird Formula, 305, TBI, Vin Code E. I want to install roller rockers, however I have some questions concerning what size to use and how to tell what size the stud is. There are 1.5,1.6, 1.65, 1.7. and stud sizes of 3/8" and 7/16". I want to keep the motor street legal and pass calif. emmisions. I am thinking of going with 1.6 ratio, however I have no idea what stud size I have. Any comments or suggestions.
TIA

your going to probably be limited to a 1.6
standard stud size is 3/8s. You might need the self aligning rockers. I know LT1 350s have to have them.

You will need the ones for 3/8" studs. You will need self-aligning variety. You will either need to get the ones for centerbolt valve covers or you will have to modify your valve covers so they don't interfere with the regular rocker arms. I've got Crane's Gold Race 1.6 ratio roller rockers. They require no modification to install.
