Re: change thermostat on my 305 v8

Yeah - I know this came off as kinda lame! I have changed the cam, the heads, the intake, the chip, the rear end gears, modified the TBI, installed headers and a cat back - lots of stuff to this car in the past 17 years. But here lately, I've had this pesky leak right around the thermostat housing and it's driving me nuts! I've changed the thermostat a couple of times and tried several methods and types of gaskets. What I'm going to do tomorrow is take the hold down screws out and give them a good coating of Form-a-Gasket, as I suspect that they screw down into the water jacket. That was why I was asking about the procedure, to see if this was the case.
So let the sarcasm continue - just be gentle!

Pull the intake to head bolts in that corner. Clean the threads and use thread sealer.

Re: change thermostat on my 305 v8

Thank you, sir!
I am looking for any ideas here!
I will do this in addition to pulling out the hold down bolts and smear sealer on everything!

The one for your car probably costs about the same.
