engine ran with no oil
engine ran with no oil
Alright my 91 z28 is temporarily off the road until I can repair the crushed in engine compartment but that means less in the way to get the engine out. So it sounds like the perfect time for some upgrades to my 305 until I found out my step father ran my mothers car with no oil and really messed it up so they bought her a new car and were going to scrap the suburban with a vortec 350 in it instead I told them 150 and I would take it because the scrap yard would only give them 100 anyways since they had to come get it and the are crooked as hell anyways.
I can completely rebuild an engine and have done so before but I am not going through the work of tearing down an engine only to inspect the block to find out its fubar. Now if there is a decent chance the block is salvageable I will take the gamble. Now normally in my experience if it is ran dry for too long in my experience an engine will seize up because the components will weld themselves to each other because of the friction. Well this one still runs but it almost sounds like a machine gun firing so I am a little confused of the problem with it. Normally I try to figure out things myself but am man enough to admit when I need someone else's' wisdom because I am a little out of my depth. The car will drive but it is also a little groggy. The main thing I need is the block if it is in good condition or at least a pretty good chance of being usable I will do the work because I would love to change out my 305 its served me well but is reaching its limits so I would love to have a 350 in her or bigger if I decide to stroke her. Thanks in advance and sorry for the trailing off from the main problem I tend to ramble off even in a post.
